Chris Johnston of the Canadian Press tweeted on Wednesday (1, 2, 3, 4) photos from the 2010 NHL Research, Development and Orientation Camp.

From his view, you can see some of the on-ice ideas the NHL has been exploring.

This is what an NHL rink looks like with one faceoff dot in each zone. It’s on display now at R and D camp.

These blue-lines at NHL’s R and D camp are twice as wide as normal — 24 inches rather than 12.

Light blue shaded area in front of bench is supposed to help referees determine if line changes are legal.

The inside of the mesh is painted red at NHL’s R and D camp. Supposed to give shooters a better look at openings.
